"PU” stands for polyurethane. In our organic waterproof mattress protectors, a very thin, breathable PU membrane is sandwiched between two layers of organic cotton. This membrane is what makes the protector waterproof, stopping liquids from getting through to the mattress underneath, while still allowing air to pass through it.
The PU we use is inert and completely non-toxic. It does not off-gas or release any harmful chemicals, and is free from BPA, phthalates, PVC, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
