Certified Organic.

All of our organic bed linen is certified by the Soil Association to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), which is the most stringent organic certification.

It ensures that the least amount of water and zero harmful chemicals or pesticides have been used in the production process, and that the farmers who grow and process the crop are treated well and paid a fair living wage.

This means you can rest assured that you’re sleeping on sheets that are healthier for you, and better for the planet.

Sustainably Packaged.

Naturally our nursery bed linen comes packed in an environmentally friendly way!

No plastics or other single use materials are used at all. Your nursery bed linen makes its way to you from Devon in entirely recyclable paper bags.

Our Natural Mattresses

Over twenty five years ago, we created the first baby mattress made from entirely natural fibres. We knew then that when it comes to where your child sleeps, organic and natural materials are simply better - for them, and for the planet.

Natural fibres are breathable, supportive, comfortable, naturally hypoallergenic, and help your baby better regulate their body temperature, all adding up to a better night’s sleep.

Each and every organic & chemical-free baby mattress is carefully handcrafted in our Devon workshop by a highly-skilled team of local craftspeople.

Your Most Asked Questions
Is organic cotton better for children’s bedding?

Organic cotton is a brilliant choice for children because it’s naturally breathable, gentle on sensitive skin and grown without harmful chemicals.

At Naturalmat we only use GOTS-certified organic cotton for our children’s bedding, ensuring every fibre is soft, safe and toxin-free. Our organic cotton fitted sheets, flat sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases are designed to create a light, airy and comfortable sleep surface, helping little ones stay cosy without overheating.

We offer organic cotton bed linen in washed cotton, jersey cotton and brushed cotton weaves, giving you the option of a relaxed, lived-in softness of the organic washed cotton, a snug, stretchy finish of the jersey organic cotton, or peach-skin soft and breathable finish of the brushed organic cotton. When paired with our organic wool duvets and kids pillows, it creates a healthy, natural sleep environment that’s beautifully breathable from top to toe – kinder to your child, and to the planet.

How do I wash and care for organic cotton children’s bedding?

Organic cotton children’s bedding is easy to care for, and with the right approach it will stay soft and comfortable for years. We recommend washing your organic cotton sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers on a gentle cycle at 40°C using a mild, eco-friendly detergent. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals, as these can damage natural fibres and reduce the lifespan of the bedding.

Tumble drying on a low heat is fine, although line drying is always the gentlest option and helps preserve the natural softness of the fabric. If you prefer a smoother finish, organic cotton can be ironed on a low to medium heat, though washed cotton in particular is designed to have a naturally relaxed, lived-in look that doesn’t require ironing.

Always check individual product labels for specific instructions, but in general, keeping things simple and gentle will ensure your Naturalmat organic cotton bedding stays beautifully breathable, soft and safe for your child night after night.

What material is best for kids’ bedding?

The best materials for kids bedding are those that are natural, breathable and gentle on delicate skin.

Organic cotton is a wonderful choice because it’s soft, moisture-wicking and free from nasty chemicals. It helps keep little sleepers comfortable year-round by allowing air to circulate and preventing overheating. For added temperature control, pairing organic cotton bed linen with natural fillings such as organic wool or feather and down creates an even healthier, more comfortable sleep environment.

At Naturalmat, we choose only natural fibres for our kids bedding to ensure every layer is safe, soft and breathable.

What is the best filling for a child's duvet?

The best filling for a child’s duvet is one that’s natural, breathable and helps regulate their temperature throughout the night.

That’s why we recommend organic wool. Wool is exceptional at keeping little sleepers warm when it’s cool and cool when it’s warm, helping to prevent overheating. It’s also naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, making it a great choice for children with allergies or sensitive skin.

At Naturalmat, we use locally sourced organic wool in our children’s pillows and duvets to create a light, comfortable and supportive layer that promotes a calm, restful sleep.

What is the softest type of cotton bedding for children?

For the softest feel, jersey cotton is often the favourite. It has a smooth, stretchy texture that feels cosy and comforting for younger sleepers, making it an ideal choice for children who love a snug, cocooning bed. Washed cotton is also beautifully soft, with a relaxed, gently rumpled finish that feels light, airy and effortlessly comfortable from the very first night.

Brushed cotton offers a different kind of softness altogether. Its fibres are gently brushed to create a warm, velvety surface that feels plush and soothing against the skin – perfect for cooler nights or little ones who prefer a slightly warmer, more enveloping feel.

All three are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, ensuring every option is soft on sensitive skin, naturally breathable and completely free from harsh chemicals. This means your child can enjoy a comfortable, natural sleep environment no matter which texture they prefer.
