The Bovey topper provides a flexible and supportive addition to your mattress, handmade from entirely natural fibres.

Its natural latex core creates a topper that sits at the firmer end of our range. Flexible enough to add comfort, but firm enough to provide extra support where you need it.

    A tightly-woven, hypoallergenic wool & cotton fibre cover meets fire regulations without the need for any chemicals whatsoever.

We make each of our popular Bovey toppers by hand, in our Devon workshop, with natural and organic materials.
The core of the Bovey topper is made up of a thick layer of natural latex - the sap from the Hevea rubber tree, injected with air bubbles to create a springy supportive layer, that is the perfect natural alternative to synthetic foam.
We surround the latex with our signature locally sourced organic wool, which provides unrivalled temperature control - helping to keep you cosy or cool whatever the weather. We wrap these two wondrous fibres in our clever cotton cover, which is free from chemicals and naturally hypoallergenic.

Clever Covers

​In the UK there are strict fire safety standards that mattresses & toppers must pass before they can be sold to the public. An overwhelming majority of manufacturers achieve this certification by treating their products with chemical fire retardants. ​This never sat right with us, and we worked to develop a cover fabric that met the safety requirements without the need for any chemicals whatsoever.

We are also the only mattress manufacturer to add a hypoallergenic finishing pr​ocess to our covers. We treat them with natural extracts to guarantee protection from dust mites and bed bugs - perfect for allergy sufferers, whose conditions are often triggered by these unwelcome bedfellows.

At Naturalmat, we believe that people, not machines, make a superior, long-lasting product. Our team of craftspeople ensure every stitch, every fibre, every tufting button and every cover is painstakingly created, teased and checked. That’s why we proudly stamp ‘Made by hand in Devon’ on all of our toppers.

Sustainable Packaging

Our toppers are rolled up and double wrapped in our signature sugarcane bioplastic packaging to keep it dry and safe in transit. We also use some of our offcut fabric strips to tie up the rolled topper, keeping it intact.

When you receive your topper, you can either recycle the bioplastic through your local council (if they collect LDPE 4 soft plastics) or drop it off at one of your local supermarkets that accept flexible plastics for recycling.
