Budleigh by name, bubbly by nature
Oozing with infectious charm, you can’t help but smile at The Budleigh Bed. Its larger-than-life character is captured by its marshmallow-like headboard, puffy silhouette and oversized wooden bun feet. The mattress sits on sturdy beech slats sunk down into the frame, to complement the bed’s low profile and soft corners.
The shape of the Budleigh bed lends itself extremely well to textured fabrics, like the stunning Bouclé pictured above.
As with all Naturalmat beds, our team of skilled upholsterers use natural fibres instead of synthetic foam to create the Budleigh's voluptuous curves. They layer on generous amounts of recycled denim and locally-sourced organic wool to add breathability and comfort to the contemporary design. At a whopping 20cm thick, headboards don’t get much cosier than this!
The 4-piece construction (the headboard, two side rails and an end rail) makes the Budleigh more than capable of squeezing into rooms where access is tight or tricky, and don't worry, our delivery team will do the assembly.

Very few beds are built the way we build them
Handmade in Devon, properly
We handcraft our beds in our Devon workshop using traditional joinery techniques which ensure they last a lifetime. Unlike most bed frames which are simply stapled together, ours are glued (using a non-toxic glue) and screwed for a much sturdier and longer lasting construction. And because we make everything ourselves, we’re always happy to accommodate bespoke requests like making headboards taller or wider, or swapping the standard feet for something different.
The natural difference
Many of the same natural and organic fibres in our mattresses feature in our beds too. We start with FSC-certified timber for the frame and layer on organic coir or recycled denim depending on the design. The headboard is then wrapped in locally sourced organic wool before being finished with one of our natural fabrics. The result is a natural bed, completely free of synthetic foam and chemical fire retardants, which will provide years of comfort.

What You Need To Know About Delivery

When can I expect delivery?
Our current delivery time for beds is 4-6 weeks. We’ll be in touch the week before your delivery date to discuss a convenient time and talk through any access issues for your property.

How will my bed arrive?
We will deliver your bed in a reusable duffel bag (rather than plastic), with the base split or in one piece depending on the option you select above. Please consider whether your bed will fit up the stairs when making this choice!

Will you help me build it?!
Yes, fear not! Our beds are delivered by our own two person team who will take it up to your bedroom, assemble it for you and bring the reusable duffel bags back to our workshop.

The bed is solidly made and worth every penny. I wish I'd gone for the boucle in white, but I wasn't sure about it showing any little scuff or stain. In saying that I still LOVE the Linara fabric and the colour Putty. It's a lovely headboard. Your head feels cushioned and the fabric is soft. I love rubbing it with my hand. I just love the design of the bed.

Quite honestly the best purchase we've made in years. The Budleigh bed is not only absolutely stunning, but also cosy and comfortable. A real statement piece in our bedroom and such a plus that it's customisable with your own choice of fabric. Really makes getting out of bed in the morning more of a chore!
