Some collaborations make sense on paper. This one made sense on the factory floor.
For years, we've woven our organic cotton and wool mattress ticking at the same Lancashire mill used by Wallace Sewell, the pioneering textile studio behind the moquette seating on the London Underground, and long-term collaborators with the Tate and the National Trust. Two workshops, one shared address, and a mutual passion for natural fibres made a joint throw feel like the obvious next step.
Each design is woven from Blue Faced Leicester, Masham and Romney fleece, sourced from British farmers who meet the standards set out in the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and its supporting welfare regulations, and traceable right back to the farm it came from. Its journey to your bed is a short one, as these things go: fifty miles from shorn fleece to yarn in Bradford, another thirty from spinners in Yorkshire to weavers in Lancashire, then a round trip to Scotland for finishing, before it reaches us here in Devon.
"We have been wanting to work with British wool for many years. When Naturalmat got in touch to develop a blanket range for them, it was the perfect moment to do this."
Emma Sewell, Co-founder, Wallace Sewell

Traceable, British wool
Sourced from Blue Face Leicester, Masham Face and Romney sheep, the wool travels only a short distance to be spun, woven and finished, keeping the entire journey from farm to fabric within the north of England and Scotland. A testament to the brands' shared commitment to sourcing high-quality natural materials, the yarn spinner only works with those who abide by the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the Welfare of Farmed Animals (England) Regulations 2007. The swing tag on each throw features a QR code which allows the owner to trace exactly which flock the wool was sourced from.

Handcrafted especially for us
Handcrafted exclusively for us in collaboration with Wallace Sewell, these beautiful wool throws are a celebration of British craftsmanship and our shared love of natural materials. Founded in 1992 by Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell, Wallace Sewell is an independent textile studio renowned for its joyful approach to colour and distinctive woven designs. Each throw is carefully made at the Lancashire mill we’ve worked with for many years, where our organic cotton and wool mattress ticking is also woven. It’s a collaboration that feels very close to home, shaped by longstanding relationships, skilled hands and a belief in making things beautifully and responsibly.
