Our Halstock Bed (and it's wider than life headboard) winner of the Living Etc style award for sleep, is a homage to the iconic silhouettes of the 1970s, bringing good vibes, smooth lines, and unquestionable grandeur, blending retro charm with contemporary curves. The Halstock headboard brings exactly the same design but narrower scaled to fit beautifully into any space, so everyone can enjoy its timeless appeal.

You can see the curves of the headboard all the way around. As with all Naturalmat beds and headboards, our team of skilled upholsterers use natural fibres instead of synthetic foam to create the Halstock's smooth headboard. They layer on generous amounts of recycled denim and locally-sourced organic wool to add breathability and comfort to the contemporary design.

The Halstock headboard can be upholstered in our range of natural fabrics - from our organic house linen to our timeless bouclé. The headboard pictured above is upholstered in our pioneering ReNew™ fabric. Alternatively, we can upholster your Halstock headboard in a fabric you supply. You can order fabric samples here.

Very few headboards are made the way we craft them

Handmade in Devon, properly

We handcraft our headboards in our Devon workshop using traditional joinery techniques which ensure they last a lifetime. Unlike most headboards which are simply stapled together, ours are glued (using organic glue) and screwed for a much sturdier and longer lasting construction. And because we make everything ourselves, we’re always happy to accommodate bespoke requests like making headboards taller or wider, or indeed creating something entirely unique.

The natural difference

Many of the same natural and organic fibres in our mattresses feature in our headboards too. We start with FSC-certified timber (FSC® C185003) for the frame and layer on organic coir or recycled denim depending on the design. The headboard is then wrapped in locally sourced organic wool before being finished with one of our natural fabrics. The result is a natural headboard, completely free of synthetic foam and chemical fire retardants, which will provide years of comfort.

What You Need To Know About Delivery

  • When can I expect delivery?

    Our current delivery time for headboards is 4-6 weeks. We’ll be in touch the week before your delivery date to discuss a convenient time and talk through any access issues for your property.

  • How will my headboard arrive?

    Your headboard will be delivered in a reusable duffel bag in one piece, unless you specify otherwise. So please check it will fit up the stairs before placing your order!

  • Will you help me build it?!

    Yes, fear not! Our headboards are delivered by our own two man team who will take it up to your bedroom, assemble it for you and bring the reusable duffel bags back to our workshop.
