It’s hard to imagine a more sustainable natural fibre so perfectly suited to making bed sheets. The long fibres in our organic hemp bed sheets not only make them wonderfully breathable, helping you regulate your temperature throughout the night, they also give them a soft yet structured feel and a relaxed, casually wrinkled look.
Hemp’s ability to grow with very little water and zero pesticides, whilst at the same time improve soil health by returning nutrients back to the earth through its deep roots, makes it an incredibly sustainable crop. What's more, by using GOTS certified organic hemp, you can sleep soundly knowing that the farmers make a decent living in good working conditions.

Why Hemp?
Organic hemp is a genuinely revolutionary fabric. The texture of its natural design makes each piece unique, and the drape and wrinkled look are heavenly. However, its sustainable features are what makes it remarkable.
Like flax, growing hemp has far less impact on the local and global landscape. Requiring little water and zero pesticides to grow, it's also highly efficient at removing carbon dioxide from the air. In turn, it improves soil health by returning nutrients back to the earth through its deep roots.

Why Organic?
All of our organic hemp bed linen is certified by the Soil Association to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), which is the most stringent organic certification.
It ensures that the least amount of water and zero harmful chemicals or pesticides have been used in the production process, and that the farmers who grow and process the crop are treated well and paid a fair living wage.
This means you can rest assured that you’re sleeping on sheets that are healthier for you, and better for the planet.
Why Portugal?
We’re proud to handcraft practically everything we do here in Devon, but for our bed linen it makes far more sense to work with a partner who specialises in exactly that. So for our organic linen and hemp, we headed to Portugal, home to some of the finest textile mills and skilled makers in the world. There, we found a GOTS certified partner with impressive sustainability credentials, including a workshop powered by the solar panels on its roof (sound familiar?) and a system to recycle the water they use in the production process.

...why oh why are all fitted sheets so enormous nowadays? I bought fitted so I didn't have the task of tucking in loads of sheet, but although it's the right width, I'm still having to go around and tuck in 10 inches of spare all around, which means the sheet always comes loose/baggy, it creases and this makes it a bit uncomfortable. A huge shame as when it's flat, it's lovely. And the mattress is NOT a thin one, it's about 30cm deep. At least if I'd got a flat sheet, I could have made hospital corners, which would have helped. But, as I said, the quality and feel is beautiful. Washing instructions are 40deg, I'm tempted to try 60 deg to see whether I can shrink it a little.
