We are proud to be based on the banks of the river Exe in Devon, a historical centre for the wool and textile industries. For over 22 years, we have been providing skilled, well-paid jobs in our local economy, and we take pride in supporting our wonderful Devon community.
A Team to be Proud of
Right from day one we have consciously recruited members of our team from within our local Devon community, resulting in 37 of our 45 team members being based in and around our HQ workshop in Topsham.
Our team consists of a wide range of roles, from traditional mattress-making & upholstery to office-based roles, all contributing to a relaxed and comfortable work environment.
We have also secured funding for 5 apprenticeship workshop roles to encourage more young people to consider jobs in sustainable businesses. Moving forward, we want to expand and develop our apprenticeship programme to create more opportunites for our local community.

We care about our team, our suppliers and everyone that helps make Naturalmat a company we’re proud of and right from the start we have ensured that our team is paid fairly. We strongly believe that it is important for our team members to feel valued for their work and we want to ensure they can live their lives comfortably.
Getting the ‘Living Wage Employer’ certification seemed like the best way to formalise our commitment to supporting our team and workers. Being an accredited Living Wage Employer means that we proudly pay all our team members at least the Real Living Wage, regardless of their age, role or number of working hours.
Made in Devon
All our mattresses are handcrafted by our skilled Devon based team in our own workshop, using the finest natural and organic fibres.
We even source our wonderful organic wool from local farmers, all based less than 70 miles from our workshop. We also make sure to pay them a premium price for their wool, at least 30% higher than standard market auctions, in recognition for what we believe is the true value of their goods.
As part of our commitment to supporting our local community, we try and support local suppliers wherever possible: our website agency, printing company, media production company, and delivery contractors are all businesses based in Devon.
In fact, our new Devon Oak bed truly encompasses our love for local provenance. Made from the highest grade of English Oak timber, which is sustainably sourced from the banks of Devon's River Tamar, the bed is enitrely crafted and finished by skilled, local artisans in Devon.
So when we say ‘Made in Devon’, we really mean it.
