Handcrafted for us in Portugal, our emperor size washed organic cotton bed linen set is laundered for extra softness and comfort, giving it a lived-in feel from the very first night. Breathable, kind to your skin, and effortlessly low maintenance, this is the sort of bed linen you’ll look forward to sinking into, and, like your favourite pair of jeans, it only gets better with every wash. 

Woven from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and finished with a beautifully relaxed, tumbled texture, its gently creased look is part of the charm, so no ironing required! Because no chemicals are used, natural colours may fade slightly over time, creating an increasingly relaxed look.

Inspired by the softest Devon skies, its quiet, moody green colour takes its name from "mizzle," a local Devon term for that fine, misty drizzle that lingers in the air. Just like its namesake, this shade has a calming, weathered beauty, designed to mellow with time. Even the colourants used are GOTS-certified, ensuring your sheets are free of any hazardous chemicals. 

Washing instructions
Machine wash at 30ºC on a gentle cycle
Line dry or tumble dry low and remove promptly
Do not iron as this will alter its tumbled appearance
We recommend steaming to remove creases
Do not bleach
Do not dry clean

Why Washed Cotton?

Washed cotton is cotton at its most comfortable. Through a special washing process, the fibres are softened to create a relaxed, effortlessly lived-in feel that’s gentle against the skin.

Naturally breathable, temperature-regulating, and hypoallergenic, it keeps you cool in summer and cosy in winter. With every wash, it gets softer still, making it the perfect choice for those who love their bedding to feel as good as it looks.

Why Organic?

All of our organic washed cotton bed linen is certified by the Soil Association to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), which is the most stringent organic certification.

It ensures that the least amount of water and zero harmful chemicals or pesticides have been used in the production process, and that the farmers who grow and process the crop are treated well and paid a fair living wage.

This means you can rest assured that you’re sleeping on sheets that are healthier for you, and better for the planet.

Why Portugal?

We’re proud to handcraft practically everything we do here in Devon, but for our bed linen it makes far more sense to work with a partner who specialises in exactly that.

So for our organic washed cotton, linen and hemp, we headed to Portugal, home to some of the finest textile mills and skilled makers in the world. There, we found a GOTS certified partner with impressive sustainability credentials, including a workshop powered by the solar panels on its roof (sound familiar?) and a system to recycle the water they use in the production process.

    I got a bundle of the flat and fitted sheet with pillow cases and I'm so happy with the quality, texture, and colour. It has a lovely natural green tone that's soft on the eyes while bringing in the pop I was looking for in our master. Would buy from NaturalMat again for sure!

    Nice to know no chemical nasties in my sheets!

    Nice sheet, bought to go over my grounding sheet

    Good for if I upsize slightly to a bigger double mattress as there's room for a bigger fit too
